(La Porte County, IN) - Fire destroyed a workshop inside a pole barn this morning at a home outside La Porte.

 

About 3 a.m., Pleasant Township firefighters were called to 2401 E. 300 South after a passerby reported the fire.

 

Fire Chief Kevin Bluhm said the roof had collapsed from flames engulfing the structure before firefighters arrived.  Bluhm said the contents of the structure, including a drill press and other tools along with lumber, were destroyed.

 

The cause of the fire is not known but remains under investigation.

 

“There was electric to the building.  It could have been anything.  Right now, it’s undetermined,” he said.

 

Bluhm said firefighters were at the scene for about three hours.
