(La Porte County, IN) - Early voting for the November general election started today.
La Porte County Clerk Heather Stevens said 106 people had voted by late this morning at the fairgrounds. Another 99 early votes were cast in Michigan City at 8th and Wabash streets. 14 people also voted in the mobile voting unit.
Stevens said she didn’t think the first day early voting turnout would be as high.
“It’s a mid-term election. I just figured it would take a few days before people started coming out like this. We’ll see what happens in the next few days,” she said.
The early voting sites are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, though, the sites are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to give people time to vote after work.
