(Indianapolis, IN) - A La Porte County Sheriff’s deputy was honored recently at a statewide awards ceremony.

 

Last week the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute presented their Traffic Safety All-Star Awards at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

 

Deputy Austin Wells was one of 95 officers recognized statewide for traffic safety and impaired-driving enforcement efforts last year. Together all the officers accounted for over 4,500 OWI arrests. 33 of those were made by Deputy Wells, who has been with the LPSO for over nine years.

 

Wells was presented the award by 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, and ICJI Executive Director Doug Huntsinger.
