(La Porte, IN) - Charges are filed in connection with a La Porte Police officer being injured during a struggle, which led to a pursuit of the suspect.

 

Cody Cappis-Woods, 35, is facing multiple counts, including resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated.

 

Nearly two weeks ago, police said officers responded to a mobile home park on McClung Road where Cappis-Woods was striking a woman. 

 

During a major struggle, police said the suspect slammed a car door on an officer’s arm.  He then hit the gas pedal but the officer held on to the car and was dragged along the ground until letting go.

 

Police said Cappis-Woods after stop sticks flattened his tires during the chase stopped and fled on foot in the area of County Road 250 South.  Eventually, he was in a fenced in area when arrested at gunpoint.

 

Police said the injured officer suffered scratches along with swelling and bleeding.
