(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte man is facing drug charges after getting pulled over for traveling with a bad headlight on his vehicle.
Daniel Bernacchi, 60, is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 6 felony possession of cocaine and Class A misdemeanor possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance.
Court documents state that a La Porte Police officer pulled Bernacchi over just before 11 p.m. on September 3rd near the intersection of Lincolnway and Teegarden Street after noticing a malfunctioning headlight on his vehicle.
During the stop, officers reported smelling recently used marijuana coming from inside the car. A search reportedly turned up plastic bags containing about one gram of cocaine and roughly 45.5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, found on the floorboard of the driver's seat.
Bernacchi was still being held in the La Porte County Jail without bond.
