Barbara was a resident of the area for most of her life. On April 9, 1949, in La Porte, she married the love of her life, James Robert Murray, who preceded her in death in March of 1990. Along with her husband of 40 years, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her "Daddy" Carl Isbell, who helped raise her; sons, Wayne Murray, Curtis Murray; daughter, Patricia Metcalf; sisters, Mary  Bridge, Corrina Hartford; brother, Edward Jon Jackson.
